Edmonton Suzuki Flute & Recorder Society

For 13 years, from 2007 to 2025, I was the Music Program director of this non-profit Society. ESFRS was started to meet the needs of families who wanted to participate in Suzuki Flute and Suzuki Recorder programs. Over the years, and especially during the COVID pandemic, ESFRS shifted from supporting large group programs to helping individual teachers and students. In 2025 the Board of the Society voted to stop operating as a non-profit society, primarily because the resources being used to maintain the society were taking away from resources that could be used to used to support teachers, students, and programs.

I still hold the archives and contact information for the former ESFRS society, and welcome any inquiries related to that organization.

I still engage in activities to support the Suzuki community:

  • I am a member of the STC (Suzuki Training Committee) advisory committee to the SAA (Suzuki Association of the Americas)
  • I meet regularly with the International Suzuki Recorder Teacher Trainers
  • I am invited to teach flute and recorder at various Suzuki workshops, conferences and festivals around the world (Australia, Netherlands, Ecuador, Peru, Mexico, USA, Canada)
  • I am active in Suzuki Music /Musique Canada
  • I am a Teacher Trainer for the Suzuki Association of the Americas
  • I support students and teachers through lessons, courses, mentoring and scholarships both as an individual and though the Schoen Duo Studio

I welcome inquires about any of my Suzuki Method related activities at info@fluteplayer.ca
