Suzuki Method teacher training can begin with one of two courses:
Every Child Can!© (ECC!)
or
Filosofia
both courses are introductions to Dr. Suzuki’s philosophy and its application to Suzuki education.
For parents, teachers, prospective teachers and others, these courses provide an inspiring, in-depth look at the Suzuki approach to teaching and learning.
In addition to exploring the elements of the Suzuki approach and its far-reaching goals, both courses include the history of the development of Suzuki education, the role of parents, the importance of Suzuki pedagogical training, and an overview of the SAA’s role in supporting teachers and parents. ECC! includes video materials and SAA-developed courseware, and provides each participant with useful reference materials for later study. Filosofia includes more observation and analysis of individual lessons.
*Note: High-School graduation or equivalent and age 18 are requirements for taking ECC!, Filosofia, and all other SAA Teacher Development Courses.
UPCOMING COURSES:
Fall 2024: ECC! / Filosofia combination class
This is a pilot project. Up until now, ECC! has been the introductory course offered most often in English speaking parts of North America, and Filosofia is the course most often offered in Spanish or Portuguese speaking parts of Central and South America. As part of my work with the SAA advisory committee for these course offerings, we are experimenting with merging the two course formats. Your input after this class will be valuable in development of future courses!
- 15 hours of instructional time
- additional 8 hours of lesson observation for Filosofia credit (optional)
- Over 5 days: Nov 24, Dec 1, 8, 15, 22, 2024
- 3 h each day
- Time: noon-3:00 pm Mountain Time
- this may be adjusted based on time zones of participants
Both on-line and in-person participation is available
- online via Zoom platform (link sent upon registration)
- in person in my central Edmonton studio (address sent upon registration)
